In the mattress industry, basically every national holiday is a sales event. Even though the Fourth of July isn’t a big sales holiday compared to Memorial Day or Black Friday, the nation’s birthday usually drums up some pretty good deals from mattress brands. Below, I’ve rounded up some of the best discounts I’ve found on mattresses — most are fairly typical, as many mattress brands run frequent sales, though they will likely be the best available until the next major sales holiday, Labor Day. So if you’re in need of a new bed before the end of summer, now is a good time to buy. Sales are listed in alphabetical order by brand name, and I’ll be updating this post with new discounts all the way up until the Fourth.
Avocado
Technically, this is a “summer sale” and not specific to the Fourth of July, but it’s still worth a look. Avocado, which specializes in natural mattresses and bedding, is offering up to $500 off its Avocado Green and Vegan mattresses. You can also save up to $100 on the Avocado Eco Organic mattress, which we named our best mattress for teens and tweens.
Awara
Awara is also dedicated to building its mattresses with natural materials. The brand doesn’t have quite as many models as Avocado, but all three of its beds are good latex-hybrid options. They’re also among the more affordable latex hybrids I’ve seen (latex tends to be pricier than memory foam). For the Fourth of July, you can get up to 50 percent off.
Bear
Originally launched to sell beds that promote muscle recovery for athletes, Bear has since expanded to offer a wider range of mattresses. I’m partial to the Bear Elite Hybrid; it has a really luxe feel. For the Fourth of July, the brand is offering 35 percent off sitewide with the code STRAT35. Mattress purchases will come with two free pillows, a mattress protector, and sheets.
Birch
Birch also specializes in natural materials, offering three latex-hybrid mattresses (including a flippable kids’ mattress). Use the code STRAT25 to take 25 percent off sitewide at Birch — and if you buy a mattress, you’ll get two Eco-Rest pillows for free.
DreamCloud
DreamCloud makes three memory-foam mattresses — the Original, the Premier, and the Premier Rest — and recently expanded its offerings to include a hybrid version of each. For the Fourth of July, the brand is taking 50 percent off all mattresses as well as 50 percent off bundles of a mattress and a bed base.
Helix
Helix is offering 25 percent off sitewide, and up to 30 percent off its Luxe and Elite mattress lines, with the codes STRAT25 and STRAT30, respectively. The Luxe and Elite lines are upgraded versions of the six original hybrid mattresses in Helix’s Core line, which range from soft to firm. If you want some fancy features like zoned support, a cooling cover, or a pillow top, go for the upgrades; if you just want a good-quality, standard hybrid mattress, the Core line is a solid option.
Leesa
For the Fourth of July, Leesa is offering 25 percent off select mattresses as well as 15 percent off kids’ mattresses and 25 percent off bedding and bed bases. Leesa sells a wide selection of mattresses, including our favorite all-foam mattress, the Leesa Original.
Naturepedic
Naturepedic offers a good selection of natural mattresses and bedding items, primarily latex based. I’ve recently tested the brand’s mattress topper and one of its pillows, and Strategist writer Kitty Guo is currently sleeping on the Serenade Organic Hybrid mattress and finds it “perfectly balanced” and fully supportive of her body weight whether she’s sleeping on her back or her side. Naturepedic’s products are expensive, but I think they are good quality. For the holiday, you can take 20 percent off sitewide.
Nectar
The Nectar Original is one of the most popular memory-foam mattresses on the market — it’s currently our top pick for memory foam. For the Fourth of July, Nectar is offering up to 40 percent off the Nectar Original and the rest of its mattresses. The brand also has a 50-percent-off deal for mattress-and-base bundles.
Nolah
Nolah focuses on making mattresses for side sleepers, who tend to need a little more cushioning around their joints. I recently tried its best-selling Nolah Evolution mattress in the Luxury Firm model (it also comes in Plush and Firm) and was impressed with the bed’s sturdy edge support and the cozy tufted top layer. The brand is offering 35 percent off sitewide for the holiday plus two free pillows with a mattress purchase.
Purple
Purple — the brand known for its squishy, flexy purple grid layer — is also running a “summer sale” that overlaps with the Fourth of July. The brand is promoting quite a few different discounts, but the biggest ones are up to $400 off its Purple and Purple Plus mattresses and 25 percent off bedding bundles.
Siena
Already a budget-friendly brand, Siena is running a deal of up to 50 percent off its Siena Memory Foam, Essential Memory Foam, and Premier Hybrid mattresses. That last one is the most expensive, but it’s still under $1,000 at full price for a queen.
Sleep Number
Sleep Number’s adjustable-firmness tech is pricey, but for the Fourth of July you can get 10 percent off the c2 and c4 models, 20 percent off the p-series models, 30 percent off the i-series, and $1,000 off the Climate360. The brand is also taking 25 percent off bedding.
