I first noticed this deceivingly simple Gap minidress when I saw it in-store while shopping the brand’s Dôen collaboration a few weeks ago. But I was on a mission, so I didn’t try it on at the time. Then, while writing about Gap’s very good summer essentials sale, I noticed the dress was deeply discounted, making it cheaper than a pedicure or a couple of pizzas. So I bought it in navy, and when it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it fit like a glove, with carefully considered darts that hug my waist ever so slightly and adjustable spaghetti straps that let you fine-tune the already excellent fit.
It’s short but not too short — I’m five-seven and it hits me about four inches above the knee — making it casual but also sexy, cute, and comfortable. And thanks to the linen blend, it feels like you’re not wearing much at all, even in the oppressive summer heat. I’ve had it for just over a week and already worn it three times. After the first time I wore it, seeing it was still on sale, I bought another one, this time in the black-and-white-floral print that could easily work as a wedding-guest dress. It is all I want to put on, and I am now thinking I should probably buy it in green, and maybe red too.
